On the surface, comes off as a ‘ women secretly want Khủng be raped / và they’ll lie about it ‘ typical 70 s blah. But it also đơn hàng with loss & finding a safe space in your head when the world offered Khủng you provides only bleakness. Ingrid dreams of family & safety while the world unravels around her. The ending was truly startling .
Manages a few moments of hair raising spookiness và a lot of deeply-felt desolation. How loneliness wears away at you kết thúc thời gian.

‘ Daphne From Bridgerton
‘ is a curious little psychological horror film in which Swede May Britt plays Ingrid, a girl with a troubled past who lives with her uncle in a small rural community .Deeply religious & adverse phệ the advances of & physical tương tác by men, our farm girl is unfortunate enough Khủng endure multiple ordeals in the stretch of a short period including stalkings & physical và sexual assaults .Parallel lớn Ingrid’s attacks, the town sheriff ( played by Aldo Ray ) is heading up an investigation into a series of brutal scissor-attacks of other local girls by a masked assailant .Whilst all this may sound pretty formulaic, as the film trundles on, nothing is as cut và dried as it seems … but … -

It was bad enough phệ put with one predictable slasher cliché after another, but bự top it off with such a lazy excuse for a twist made it feel lượt thích pouring salt on an open wound. All these ridiculous performances took away most of any semblance of fear & made me roll my eyes on multiple occasions. What a frustrating mess.

From the genius who brought the world ” Graduation Day ” comes ” Haunts ” which is one of dozens of obscure b movies starring Cameron Mitchell that Mill Creek puts on their 50 packs. As far as horror movies in general go, it’s nothing mập get riled up about but in comparison lớn most of what you get on these sets its pretty solid .I won’t try for a summary because honestly I didn’t really know what happened, at points the picture was so sánh murky I scarcely knew who or what I was watching. What this has going for it is a creepy atmosphere, some interesting editing ( those cuts between our female lead milking the goat và sex scenes are surprisingly effective ) và …

I’m always game for some pre-Halloween, American slasher films, so sánh in this context Haunts suited me okay. Before the genre became geared more toward hedonistic teenagers, these films tended phệ center around traumatized or otherwise tormented adults dealing with creepy grown-up problems ( in this case rape, incest, sexual repression, & suicide ). It’s a dimension rarely present in the lesser slasher films of the ‘ 80 s và beyond, & it can be refreshing. However, with the added drama, it can also run the risk of being boring. You take the good with the bad sometimes, and Haunts offers both .This is a hard PG movie if there ever was one, but I can only give it mild recommendation.

Strange things are afoot with the goat .
“That’s disgusting.”
“It’s delicious.”
Why is this weirdo allowed to work there? Why does the new edition to the choir look like a serial killer? It’s obviously cheap, but the atmosphere in HAUNTS is palpable. It’s eccentric and has personality. For me, personality is the most important thing in this kind of low budget horror fare, because they don’t have enough money to impress you with anything else.
For the record, I think the acting is very good, considering the low budget and public domain status. There’s at least three real actors! Aldo Ray and Cameron Mitchell were veterans, and May Britt had experience. I liked her a lot. She brings a CARNIVAL… -

Slow proto-slasher with shades of bargain bin Bergman. Very rapey. Aldo Ray ( who carries this movie ) looks & sounds worse for wear as the alcoholic sheriff, introduced in one scene puking into a nhà vệ sinh while his wife takes his calls. Honestly don’t know if that was in the script. Kinda sad, but he’s great with business & still has that màn hình hiển thị presence. Bold twist near the over .ba star Cameron Mitchell.

FW: Rape
This psychological horror comes off as a thriller but it’ll come lao dốc Khủng its horror nearing the kết thúc of the movie .The story could be confusing và often hard phệ follow with how the visuals và flow is phối up in the runtime. The atmosphere of a small town under a panic will mix the mood while the other parts of the story take hold. The characters were not bad but I will admit that a rape scene being used lớn further the story wasn’t all that great .Overall this was a decent watch. It’ll be confusing for first thời gian watchers so sánh I wouldn’t blame people for skipping this one.

” My god … It’s lượt thích a butcher shop. “A pretty standard ” things might not be what they seem ” phong cách of horror film from the ‘ 70 s with a few good ideas but underwhelming pacing, poor acting, & a largely unfocused narrative that will leave audience probably wanting more.

This reviews may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth. After she is assaulted in several horrific sequences, seemingly provincial farm girl Ingrid ( May Britt ) becomes convinced that her slovenly uncle Carl ( Cameron Mitchell ) is her assailant, và is the serial rapist & killer responsible for a string of local bloody scissor murders. She’s afraid béo tell local sheriff Aldo Ray, a sort of father figure for her, even after she is attacked again, & suffers a total psychic breakdown .
This straightforward-sounding narrative is actually incredibly difficult to follow, as the film’s discernible plot takes ages to develop. At 96 minutes Haunts just creeps by, scanning more as an assemblage of individual scenes than as a cohesive whole. Mitchell takes a half-hour to appear, and the film’s supernatural elements come…

Review by Johnny B. Goodfornothin ★★★
Some may be quick mập write Haunts off as a poor mans Repulsion, while the similarities between the two are glaringly obvious there’s still different enough stories. Our protagonist is May Britt a repressed shy farm girl fearful of the opposite sex và suffering from past psychological traumas hinted at in dream & hallucination sequences. The small town begins mập be terrorized by a rapist / killer who uses a pair of scissors as a weapon. Drunk Sheriff Aldo Ray tries bự solve the case while Britt begins suspecting her uncle Cameron Mitchell may be the villain. Its a 70 ‘ s drivein horror flick definitely worth a watch. Of course not the budget is low, not all the acting is up bự par, its extremely poorly lit, và its rated PG so sánh theres no gore. If youre still on board after those disclaimers you’re in for an atmospheric little treat.

Film #13 of Scavenger Hunt 19
Task #14: The most obscure horror flick you can get your hands on. Ideally something with less than 500 views on LB.
Original list: letterboxd.com/neglify19/list/scavenger-hunt-nineteen-oct-2016/Well, it’s one thing when a movie is bad because the plot sucks or the acting is bad. When you go lớn see some big budget blockbuster lượt thích TMNT2 or ID : R or BvS & it has a seemingly endless amount of money, top billed actors, huge advertising campaigns, & it still manages Khủng be a failure because it’s just a bad movie .It’s another thing when you have an inexperienced, first thời gian director with an unknown cast using significantly less than par equipment trying lớn make a movie. Firstly, …
